#2 Self Portrait and process

I'm uncomfortable posting this one, as I know it is full of faults. I hope that eventually I will post a self-portrait that will show improvement. I allowed myself a 3 hour window to paint the self portrait.

To be honest, I consistently over work portraits, so avoidance is my best portrait technique! I maybe do one every couple of years, then retreat. Frankly this is better than usual 😕

I stuck with the 3 hours, but sadly still over worked it as panic started to set in. That's a good time to leave it😆 I have posted the stages of under painting and build up.

I’m so humbled by portrait painters, as they have skills that I can only dream of. Maybe this year I will do a portrait a day for a month, just to face the fears.
