Plums & Milk

Painting metal jugs happens to be one of my most favorite challenges. I haven’t painted one in at least a year, so when @still.shapes from Instagram put out a couple of reference photos to copy; I couldn’t resist. I usually paint jugs from life rather than from photos, so this went a little faster than normal.

Just for fun, I flipped the composition around from the photo. Last year I painted my jug images on a pink background, so I deepened the base layer colour to a richer hue to match. Now I get more of an Autumnal vibe. I think that this is one of my most favorite 6" paintings, so I will hang this at home for a while.
