Fort Bragg Balloons
39/52 Fort Bragg Balloons, 6" x 6", Oil on Canvas
Happy 4th of July!
As the circus comes into town, it’s time to head home. A last coffee salute and a wave to my favorite tree outside of the Glass Studio.
I painted a last little image last night. I love @teddiparkerart’s acrylic balloons and painted some patriotic ones of my own in oils. The usual palette, of Ultramarine Blue, Hansa Yellow, Alizarin Crimson (I was so tempted to use Cad Red) and Titanium White.
The balloons themselves were from Fort Bragg, but it looks like Mendocino is even more geared up for the holiday, with parades and a circus tent. I hate to miss the fun, but today is the end of my time here for now. I am so thankful for my art retreat and I have so many sketches, watercolors and reference photos to take home. I feel refreshed and inspired.
So now I am pointing the car in the direction of Nevada and hoping to see some fireworks as we get back into town. Home again, home again, jiggidy jig!
