Happy Holidays!

What a year! I finished up my 2021 challenge today, which was EXTREMELY satisfying. The plan is to have a few days off to enjoy the holidays, then go into a painting fury to have items ready for an exhibition in March. Hmmm… I may have to switch to acrylics to have them dry in time. 😄🖌 Either way, a little break for the holidays will be much appreciated before going into the New Year.

I REALLY enjoyed the challenge of making little art pieces and picking up my skills with the regular practice. Alla Prima isn’t a style of painting that appealed to me until the pandemic started, now I am completely hooked!

Having a weekly challenge is just the right amount for me to push myself, but still leave room to think about bigger paintings or projects. I have seen an improvement in my work this year, which is magical to me. It makes it worth it to be able to look back at older work and know that I have grown. I hope to continue next year with the same challenge in the hope of having similar results. I intend making prints of these pieces too, so that my collectors won't be disappointed when the original sells quickly.
